Section 1—Paying Bills Late Is Expensive

Most people have paid a bill late. Usually when a bill is paid late, it will cost you extra money. Here is a list of some of the things that can happen when a bill is not paid on time:

• Charged late fees, even if you are only one or two days late
• Extra finance charges on credit cards
• Services disconnected, such as cable or electricity
• Pay a fee to turn utilities back on
