Unit pricing allows you to compare different sizes of the same item. To save money, pick the item that has the lowest unit price.
Look at the two labels on the right. The top label shows a 32 ounce box of spaghetti noodles for $2.49 or 7.8¢ per ounce. The bottom label shows a 16 ounce box of spaghetti noodles for $1.50 or 9.4¢ per ounce. If you were only looking at the selling price you might think that the 16 ounce box is the better buy. However, if you look at the unit price, you will see that the 32 ounce box is actually the better buy, 7.8¢ per ounce compared to 9.4¢ per ounce.
